About MayaBags

The mission of MayaBags is three-fold: to produce high quality, reuseable, and beautiful accessory bags for our customers that are made from beginning to end by Maya women of Southern Belize, to support and provide a market for the traditional, Maya hand-craft skills of embroidery, textile weaving, and basket weaving, and to help build the Maya womens' self-esteem and independence as income providers in their households. In Belize, the Maya women are stakeholders in the business and serve as active board members. Beyond our online store, you can find our purses at Barneys New York flagship stores around the U.S. Products from our Museum Collection can be purchased at the Museum of Natural History in New York City.
